Mission

"The Winnipeg Philharmonic Choir, an amateur concert-sized choir, strives for excellence in the performance of a broad repertoire of choral music for the enrichment of Manitoba audiences and choristers."


Description

The artistic vision of the Winnipeg Philharmonic Choir is to present choral events of the highest possible artistic standard. It produces a concert series of three events during the season. In addition, it appears at other events in the community and is a frequent guest of the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra. The Choir plays a unique role in Winnipeg's music community. It is the only adult mixed concert-sized choir that offers a subscription series and is active throughout the concert season.


History

The Winnipeg Philharmonic Choir, the oldest adult choral group in western Canada, is a musical tradition that has delighted both members and audiences since 1922."The Phil" continues to provide a creative outlet for adult amateur singers from every walk of life brought together by a mutual love of fine music. During its rich history, The Phil has been a major contributor to the performing arts in Winnipeg: The Phil offers three core performances each year featuring everything from new Manitoba composers to the great works of the masters to Holiday favorites.
